Amanda Lopez: CaliLOVE

Amanda Lopez was born and raised in Sacramento, California under the watchful eye of her parents and paintings of La Virgen de Guadalupe. Her father lent her a camera at the age of 17, and photography soon became her savior. Amanda's latest exhibition just opened Friday, which continues her ongoing CaliLOVE project which debuted at Upper Playground, Sacramento earlier this year. Inspired by the dia de los muertos [day of the dead] celebration, Lopez's work addresses more than the concept of death. Lopez’s portraits reveal and celebrate the preciousness of life. With CaliLOVE Lopez also confronts human experience and individuality. CaliLove is said to capture the brief moment of life and death intersecting.
