Blaqstarr "Oh My Darlin'"

I love this song. Super hot. Seems a little dark but i love the beat. Blaqstarr's been known best for his work with co-collaborators, but he's promised to put out new tunes by year's end. “Oh My Darling” is a good demonstration of why I like him because he is just so damn original. His beats are always top notch and each song sounds different from the last and unlike most other artists’ work. This song is more of a club joint and I can see people remixing it if they wanted to go the bass bumping, Blaqstarr is supposed to have an album out on M.I.A.’s N.E.E.T. label later this year.

José Parlá-Artist

I wish I owned a house just so I could put a Jose Parla piece in my living room. His style is amazing and can really relate to his art. Jose Parla was born in South Florida to Cuban parents in 1973. He is best known for his calligraphic paintings which are inspired from the urban culture and street art. He always tries to capture the old, spray-painted spirit of the streets on canvas. I really like his style of how his brings street art to canvas. Visit his website Jose Parla

Nike SB Dunk High Tiffany Customs

The Tiffany Dunks are pretty much one of the most coveted pairs of sneakers in the world. But I love these shoes! The turquoise is prob my favorite part about the shoes. That turquoise and black upper its known as being one of the most sought after and expensive sneakers in the game so when Diamond Supply Co commissioned a pair of customs to represent their brand guess what they chose?
This custom has all the trappings of the shoe it is fashioned after including that turquoise colored toebox, quarter panel and tongue and also the crocskin mudguards and heel. Needless to say these are not on shelves but the OG’s are on eBay and if you want a custom pair bad enough go to BoyGeniusLine.

What Lurks in the Waters at Disney...

This is sort of random but I've always wanted to know whats in there. When Disney workers drained the Rivers of America in January, they discovered some unusual items, just like they did in 2003 when a toaster and bottle of rum was found. Among the items found this year were hundreds of cell phones and walkie talkies, plastic swords and a half of a canoe from Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoe ride, according to the Orange County Register.

The most unusual item, however, was a computer tower, which has left Disney officials baffled on how it got there. But that's no surprise, as seen in the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, street artist Banksy easily installed a life-sized Guantanamo Bay detainee over the fence of the nearby Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride and got away with it.

Shepard Fairy’s New Mural is already getting hit up

Shepard has bombed the world over the last 20 years, and I respect him a lot for that. But when you become #1, you become target #1 (no pun intended). People don’t care what you did, they care about what you are doing now. Street art is still street art, their are no rule on who can cover it up or clam their grown, even if your well known. As Shepard told the NY Times, “Because I’m straddling the line between all these different worlds – the fine art world, the street art world, commercial design, fashion – I think I’m a target for a lot of narrow-minded people who just aren’t comfortable with my multi-platform approach,” he said. “If that’s how they express their view is by vandalizing my mural, that’s fair. I assume that they think that putting a bullet hole through it is a clever interactive addition, which I actually agree with.”

CRAZYTOWN.

highly suggest! both amazing!

Pac Div – Don’t Mention It Mixtape

The follow up to their Church League Champions mixtape, Pac Div is back with Don’t Mention It. Their are guest featured like Pill, Colin Munroe, Chip Tha Ripper & more. If you’ve been following the Pac, you already know what to expect. Some hard beats & dope Cali raps. Im glad to hear a mixtape that isn’t filled with tons of “fillers” and one that lets the music speaks for itself, music that has something to say.

DTMD – You

I don't know why but I love these simple black & white videos. As a rap fan I appreciate the duo, how they combine wordplay with fresh Soul and Jazz beats. The visuals also adds credibility to their hustle by showing images of their day job and their passion. Check out their EP The Basics here.

The Hollywood Sign is Offically Saved

The Hollywood Sign is the most famous sign in the world. It is located on Mount Lee in Griffith Park overlooking Hollywood. Just recently everyone heard that the Hollywood sign would be taken down because of land issues. It was put on the market two years ago for $22 million, but the Trust for Public Land wanted a lower price. In April 2009, the land was up for grabs at $12.5 million and the trust for public land had one year to buy the property to save it for generations to come. Recently there has been a campaign to help raise money to save the land and they had until April 30, 2010 to raise $12.5 million. Thankfully the land next to the Hollywood sign is offically saved because of Hugh Hefner's Big Donation. He donated $900,000 to the Save the Peak campaign, causing Tiffany & Co.Foundation and Aileen Getty to donated $500,000. The land will eventually be donated to the city and become part of Griffith Park. The idea of there no longer being the famous sign is mind blowing. The sign is a world icon that doesn't just bring tourism but also is a part of history and culture of Los Angeles. I am so glad the sign is here to stay.

The Electro Wars

Sort of late but I want to see this! There is some major buzz about this movie. Finally someone made a documentary of whats been really going on in the dance music world. From Blogs to Shows, Shows, and more Shows. Not to mention how the movie shows how connected everyone in the Dance Music community really is. The movie seems to highlights the early Electro trend setters and goes in depth of the early founders of the scene from the last five years. My, how times have changed and evolved. From the parties, to how music is produced and promoted in this industry now. This movie is going to cover all bases.

DISGRACE Recommends: The KFC Double Down

KFC debuted its new sandwich couple weeks ago, The Double Down. You may not have heard about it, but it is one of the most incredible things to ever happen. KFC is now offering a new sandwich known as the double down. What makes this sumptuous feast so incredible is that instead of using bread as buns, IT USES FRIED CHICKEN! That’s right, you have two pieces of KFC’s best sandwiching cheese bacon and some sauce. I had to try it for myself and let me tell you, after a mild heart attack I wanted another. It is incredible. The only problem is its nutritious qualities: 540 calories, 32g of fat, 1380mg of sodium. If you look at the size of the sandwich you will be wondering, HOW? After eating it though, you will understand. All I can say is that everybody should try it and at 4.99$ you are basically paying a penny a calorie.

Now, I’ll address the reason why they are making such a sandwich. It is not like most people suspect, “to kill people through fried goods.” Instead the bread that is not used for the sandwich is going to a third world country. Kind of weird when you think about it, they are killing us at home to feed those abroad. Way too hippie for me, but then again who cares, they are too damn good. In the end I recommend everyone to try a KFC double down. Hell go out and buy two, because after one you always want another.

Rana Sobhany Demos Her iPad DJ Setup

FIRST ipad DJ, this makes me want an ipad even more now! All the music, sounds and effects she uses are pulled from iPad apps and rather than carry clunky equipment to a gig, you just needs the tablets, which will fit easily inside a backpack. Not only does this system make getting to a show easier, but it's much cheaper. Could be a new simpler way that could change the future.

RIP Guru 1966-2010

A couple days ago Gangstarr’s Guru passed away after his long battle with cancer. His voice, lyrics and vocals were one of a kind. Your songs go deep. You will be missed. This one is for you.

Shepard Fairey “These Parties Disgust Me” Mural for Deitch Projects

“These Parties Disgust Me”, Shepard Fairey created this mural on Bowery & Houston (NYC) for the opening of the “May Day” show, which commences May 1st and is hosted by Deitch Projects. This video features an interview with Shepard by Animal NY and reveals that the meaning behind the piece lies in the dysfunction of the two-party political system in Washington D.C., and also about encouraging activism. Fairey’s “These Parties Disgust Me” will stay up for a while as an ongoing project and others will be invited to collaborate.

jayWEST - drugs + candy

“People are so infatuated with the cocaine era. That’s not exactly what this is. With the music on my mixtape DRUGS+CANDY a lot of the drug references are used to draw a parallel between some of my vices. Sex, conflict and vanity are just a few that have their hooks in me. This trailer represents a visual of that conflict.” – jay

Ive been looking for some good hip hop, & i found some finally. I like his sound, he has a good vibe about him. Im excited to see how drugs + candy turns out. download the song and keep an ear out for his mixtape.

Vans 2010 Fall/Winter Versa Collection Preview

Like i've said before, Vans just keeps stepping up. Even though fall/winter is a long ways away, I can't wait to see these on the streets. It comes in four different color ways such as beige, red, grey, and black. All four sneakers that we’re introduced to come in a premium suede uppers, sort of makes the sneaker more casual. I think every guy should have all four pairs in each color. They look like they would go with every outfit you can imagine.

It’s said that Vans has produced these kicks for the next generation of hardcore skateboarders, but I see a lot of sneaker heads copping a black or red pair just for their own good. All the sneakers also offer a thick white sole, which I feel accents the sneakers very well. No official release date as of yet but these will release sometime this Fall/Winter, which isn’t even close. Keep an eye out though!

Mr. Brainwash Bombing Los Angeles- Artist

Mr. Brainwash (aka Thierry Guetta) was born in France as Thierry Guetta. He started his career as a French documentary film maker then turned into a street pop artist. He currently lives here in Los Angeles and is a  graffiti artist. Mr. Brainwash's work seems to be a mix of Andy Warhol and UK street artist Banksy. He using the streets as his canvas but also has been in galleries and had his own shows. His first show 'Life is Beautiful" opened in Los Angeles June 18th 2008. Then had his first show in New York on February 14, 2010. He was also featured in a documentary about street artists, called "Exit Through the Gift Shop."
Check out his site. Mr.Brainwash

Garnett suspended & Richardson was fined $25,000.

Garnett has been suspended for throwing an elbow and Richardson was fined $25,000. Things got testy on saturday between Celtics and Heat players during the opening game of their playoff series. It happened after Paul Pierce “injured” his shoulder and fell in front of the Heat bench. KG and Quentin Richardson exchanged a few words, and then Richardson’s jaw viciously attacked KG’s elbow. All hell broke lose. Honestly im not to impressed with the playoff's right now. This is problaby the most crazy thing that has happened so far. What happened to nba's slogan "where amazing happens", seems like this years playoff's are starting off slow.

Freaknik: The Musical

I have to share this. I recently downloaded T-Pains recent new track "Save You", and wondered what Freaknik: The Musical was. I looked it up and it turns out to be this special produced by T-Pain. I dig the song so I looked up it on youtube and found the tv special. I find it super funny and pretty entertaining. It also feature artists like Young Cash, Lil Wanye, Lil Jon, Rick Ross, Kelis, Big Boi, Snoop Dogg & others. Check it Out. You can watch the whole thing on youtube.

Ke$ha Sucks Ass & She Is Still Getting Paid For It

Last night, Ke$ha performed some weird a capella version of "Tik Tok" on SNL and played with lasers and wore a hideous metallic American flag outfit. Its like Lady GaGa shit all over again. Just shows how talent doesnt madder anymore.

I know, right? What the hell...

Is it time for Ke$ha (I seriously hate having to hit the shift key and find the dollar sign on my keyboard every time I need to type her stupid "name") to just go away yet? Because that would be nice. Or, at least, stop performing "Tik Tok." She's on SNL, she knows people are paying attention, so why not introduce them to something new? Does she even have another song? Later on in the show, Ke$ha performed "Your Love Is My Drug" while covered in some sort of glow in the dark body paint that made her look like Rafiki from The Lion King. Oh, and she finished her performance by asking, "It's Saturday night, do you wanna make out?" Seriously where the fuck has music gone. If you like her so called "music" you dont deserve ears.

LA RIOTS - Spring 2010 Mix

Donnis - Gone

Happy Saturday Night. Everyone drink up. Time to get tonight going. PCE.

Das Racist-Shut Up, Dude Mixtape

Someone told me about this mixtape, its fun with some sick beats. Not you typical rappers but it's sick. Das Racist is a duo originated from Brooklyn, New York. Their music is a fusion of electronic and unique East Indian beats and hip-hop. You can listen to the whole thing, and also download it, “You Outta Know” is gonna be a smash-hit for outside summer music. Put that one in the books.

Cell phones are fucking with sex

So scope out these survey results about American cell phone use. Especially note this one:
“While 15% of Americans admit to putting hook ups on hold, another study, by Retrevo, reports that 36% of people under 35 confess to checking Facebook, texting, or Tweeting directly after having sex.

Is this is the most fucked up statistic of all time? Like I can understand answering your phone during sex, sometimes you’re expecting important phone calls. But what’s most startling to me is the fact that 36% of people under thirty five have checked Facebook right after they finish fucking. That’s mind boggling. Like I get that you like Facebook, but what good can possible come from checking it right after you cum? Are they writing on their fuck-buddies wall “hey thanks for that!“? I don’t get it. And the tweeting is even weirder. “just got done fucking. allll rightttt!” No one wants to see that tweet, and I guarantee if you are the person who is sending a tweet like that, you probably don’t have any friends who are looking at your twitter.

Also, notice “iPhone users are 3x more likely to check Twitter or Facebook after ‘doing the deed’ than Blackberry users.” This just further shows that iPhone users are a bunch of fucking dweebs.

Late Night Eats LA- In-N-Out

If you live any where in Southern California you know what In-N-Out is, and in LA it's usually the first place that comes to mind when you want a bomb burger. These burgers are one of my favorite burgers of all time. My perfect order at In-N-Out is the “Double Double" with Cheese, two patties, cheese, toasted buns, Thousand Island, pickles, lettuces and tomato. I also have to get an order of animal style fries. This place is well priced and the menu is simple, burgers, fries, and shakes. Everyone I know loves In-N-Out with a passion and if you live in LA they are everywhere. It is also open late till 1am everyday some even 2am. It's the perfect late night spot as well, perfect after a long night out being out on the town. I recommend that everyone has to at least eat there once in their life time!
