Mayer Hawthorne – I Need You

This song is by far my favorite this week. Mayer Hawthorne found time to join forces with Nottz recording his new song “I Need You”. In good Stones Throw-manner the piece comes as a 12″ also containing an etching by Miami illustrator Freegums, who hooked up with the label a couple months back for the Mayer Hawthorne x Huf T-shirt & song collaboration. The shipping date is slated for a August 17.

This past month, we have seen one of the most intricate designs in the Vans Vault Era LX “Inca Flower”. For the moment however, Vans has toned down the Vault Era and taken a more classic approach. This August, Vans has decided to create three Era LX’s built with DRI technology. This technology, which is engineered to keep your feet dry, is coupled with herringbone insoles, enamel eyelets and patterned laces to create a good everyday sneaker. How To Make A Daft Punk Helmet

Volpin Props presents an impressive video on the process of making a notorious Daft Punk helmet. Unfortunately, this project was a one-off and no orders for duplicates will be taken.

This video chronicles my odyssey with replicating the iconic gold Daft Punk helmet worn by Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo. Over the process, I took hundreds of pictures, mostly because my crummy digital camera I shoot with has a bum autofocus. What you see are the collection of all of these images, and a little hint of video as well.

What would the most competitive man on the planet, Michael J. Jordan, say,  about Lebron James going to the Miami Heat to join Wade and Bosh.

Broken Social Scene - Meet Me In The Basement (Video)

The new Broken Social Scene album, Forgiveness Rock Record, is a very nice album from the Toronto-based supergroup. “Meet Me in the Basement” is one of the album’s best tracks, and now it has a fan-made, band-endorsed video to go along with it that seems all political and stuff. We think the riot footage makes it so. Okay, not being smart ass, the video is really smart, love the footage and it give canada props.

Dennis Hopper ‘Double Standard’ at MOCA

Jeffery Deitch has officially opened the doors to his era at the MOCA with the Dennis Hopper ‘Double Standard’ retrospective curated by Julian Schnabel. Including Hopper’s photographs, sculptures, films, and paintings, the retrospective includes elements of pop, abstract expressionism, photorealism, and graffiti. As well as being a celebration of the late actor’s life the show gave it’s audience an insight into the world of Dennis Hopper outside of films and fancy. With the actor and artist’s recent death still fresh in the minds of everyone in attendance, the exhibition was a timely one and can be seen as a celebration of Hopper’s life and work. Many were able to see his life outside of film and view his formerly under-appreciated works, such as his observant shots of Los Angeles and California life and the fringes of society. The opening was DJ’d by Ed Ruscha’s son, Eddie Ruscha, and as expected, drew a large, stylish, and hip crowd.
