Audrey Kawasaki: 2010 Year of the Tiger

Audrey Kawasaki has gotten deeply back into work mode, continuing to perfect her finely painted renditions of women, and occasionally, men with detailed features and penetrating eyes. I absolutely love her work, she also is a big inspiration to me. Audrey is a Los Angeles-based painter, known for her distinctive, erotically charged portrayals of young, adolescent women. Her works are oil paintings painted directly onto wood panels, and her style has been described as a fusion of Art Nouveau and Japanese manga.

“I’ve been having some fun doing these small 'studies'. I tried to be more loose with the marks, and I must say, I enjoyed it immensely!”
“Came across this photo by Chris Blanchenot, who created this Yuuwaku homage photo. I love seeing different interpretations especially in a medium like photography.”

Maestro Knows (Tour de Maestro – NYC video)

I honestly think Levi Maestro is just way sick, I just love him! He def someone on my wish list to meet. I have been watching his video for about a year now and Ive decided to start posting his videos. His lifestyle is one I really enjoy and a must see for everyone.
Maestro has been making these videos of himself and his lifestyle. "Maestro Knows" is an online video project of a young man who came to Los Angeles with dreams of being a director and is now experiencing his success all around the world. He become very popular in just 1 year flat. His videos are just his everyday life exploring different cities and now countries. He follows artists or interviews music artists, corporate brands, etc then ends up connecting with them and produced things with them, just building relationships one day at a time.

“You gotta work hard and do for yourself, cause nobody else is gonna do what you want for you.”

Nike Sportswear Perforated Leather Pack

Take a look into Nike Sportswear’s upcoming perforated leather pack, which features three models, including the Air Force One, Dunk Hi AC, and Toki. All three take on a tonal white colorway with the Toki and Dunk Hi AC sporting brown piping along the midsoles. The Dunk Hi AC and Toki's are the ones I like best. I feel like Air Force One's were cool in the earler 00's when nelly was sick, Everyone is over Air Force's! You can look for these to drop soon via finer Nike Sportswear retail accounts.

I just cant help it, I love M.I.A.! This is behind-the-scenes look into a photo shoot by Ryan McGinley, shot for New York Times Magazine and featuring star musician M.I.A. Although only about half a minute long, the shoot clearly gives us an indication of the action that went down that day. Enjoy!

Lakers vs. Suns (Game 6)

who's it gonna be tonight.

Wiz Khalifa – Goodbye (Video)

Actual Hoverboard - Nils Guadagnin

The board was created by a French artist named Nils Guadagnin and fluctuates based on electromagnetism. The most interesting part is that it has a laser system for stabilization that governs the magnets and keep it afloat in any situation. This is prob the most desired artifact from Back to the Future (besides the De Lorean) is already a reality, but there's a catch. The good news: the hoverboard exists and it works. Bad news: as long as you don’t step on it..but its on its way! Imagine what a scientist from a company with the capital of Google or Apple on his hand to invest in research could do!

Major Lazer & La Roux Present: LAZERPROOF

Still check it out, maybe you'll think different.

West Still On Top..Dr. Dre x Diddy x Beats By Dre (Video)

Seriously, anybody who lived through the Death Row/Bad Boy wars back in the mid-90s knows that this would have never happened back then. It’s kinda good to see that these two brake bread together. But the fact that Diddy is making headphones through Dre’s company ie Dre is getting a check off Puff? Yeah, the West won :p

Huoratron-Corporate Occult (Video)

different sound mix of hip hop & electronic..chill!

50 Cent Lost a Quarter of His Body Weight (And Looks Terrifying)

omg...wtd double check right?! This is honestly really 50 cent. It takes several long stares to comprehend that these photos depict rapper 50 Cent, who once looked like this. In the name of his acting career, he removed several tattoos and lost 60 lbs. to play a cancer patient.

He dropped from 214 pounds to an astonishing 160 with a liquid diet and three-hour-a-day treadmill walks for nine weeks.
"I was starving." Now he's back on tour and says, "I've been eating. I'll be back in shape in no time!"

Bouncing Cats Film Trailer

“Bouncing Cats”, a film by Nabil Elderkin is an inspiring story of one man’s attempt to create a better life for the children of Uganda using the unlikely tool of hip-hop with a focus on b-boy culture and breakdancing. This movie looks amazing. Its just an eye opener on what is really going on in the world still! Abraham “Abramz” Tekya’s Breakdance Project Uganda (B.P.U.) is a project that could empower, rehabilitate and heal the community by teaching youth about b-boy culture. The film features narration by Common and interviews with Mos Def, Will-I-Am, and K’Naan. more info:

Michael Jordan& His Hitler Mustache..

There's a new ad campaign for Hanes featuring Michael Jordan. But it's not the product that has people chatting, it's Jordan's facial hair, which most are referring to as Jordan's Hitler mustache. There is no official word on why Jordan has chosen to go with the short 'stache, some, such as SB Nation's Spencer Hall (sports blogger) has come up with a few possibilities:

"He likes a challenge. Michael Jordan has already sold you everything you never thought you'd buy. I sat through Space Jam, and though I have no specific memory why, I still somehow ended up buying the Quad City DJs' theme song to the movie. Like Michael Bay with Transformers 2, he is testing his powers to see if he can make the public embrace the unembraceable because he is both powerful and bored."

Supreme x Vans: Sk8-Hi Mid & Era

Supreme and Vans team up again to produce another release for the current Spring/Summer season. Supreme will be releasing two new styles of Vans – the Sk8-Hi Mid and the Era. Both styles feature a custom bleached denim upper (fuck the uppers tho) and the Sk8-Hi Mid will feature suede details. Available in-store and online on May 27th and releasing in Japan on May 29th.

Kanye West’s New Record Will Shock People..Supposedly..

According to various reports, British radio personality DJ Semtex has shared his thoughts on Kanye West’s upcoming new single off his highly anticipated album Good A** Job. Apparently, the result will be shocking.

"The album is coming in September. Okay, so I’ve heard the first Kanye West joint. I was sworn to secrecy. All I can say is it is banging. If that’s a taste of what’s coming on the album, he has smacked it. Lyrically….he is saying things like, ‘Wow, he said that?’ It is going to shock everybody, the first record."

The anticipation keeps growing but I don't know if I trust a british radio personality opinion offense. I need to hear it myself because I thought Kanye's last album was shit. We'll see I guess.

LAKERS VS. SUNS - Lakers 109, Suns 118

The Wall Street Journal on The Death of Hightops..

The Wall Street Journal had an interesting piece the other day talking about seeing less and less NBA players wearing hightops, like the Air Jordan 1, in games. The article brings up that Kobe Bryant asked Nike this year if he could have a low top, Steve Nash as well. They felt they could move around better, which does makes perfect sense.

Chris Webber says it best: The “five-time NBA All-Star forward who played for more than 14 seasons, says even “with the best hightops, I’ve still broken my ankle.”

Read the piece here.

Buraka Som Sistema – Buffalo Stance

In anticipation of the warmer months of the year Uproot Andy that turned in his refix of the Los Rakas-rendition of Gyptian’s “Hold Yuh”. The Brooklyn beatmaker adds some synth and percussion to the fun, thus creating a decent summer jam that will surely be a part of numerous iPod-playlists for the next few months. Check it out.
